On Saturday September 23 the Viola bands travelled to Jonesboro to participate in the ASU band Day. We enjoyed being able to practice and perform with A-State Bands at the halftime of the Southern Mississippi game.

Reminder : Viola Elementary Fall Festival , Friday October 6th. Location will be at the Viola City Park and times are from 6 to 8 pm. There will be Games for all ages as well as concession stand. Ticket's will be sold at the entry gate and are priced as follows : $ .25 per Ticket or a bag of 20 Tickets for $ 5.00. Hope to see you then !

Viola Junior and Senior Beta Club elected representatives represented our school at the Leadership Summit in Hot Springs this week. Students in both Junior and Senior Clubs participated in Collaboration Connections and qualified to attend the National Leadership Conference in Savannah, Georgia, in June! Congratulations to all members of Viola Beta Club for representing our school in the areas of leadership and service!

Braden Williams finished 2nd overall today in the 1a State Golf Tournament! Braden shot a personal best 78 at the Mountain Ranch Golf Course in Fairfield Bay. With this score, he qualifies for the State Overall Tournament at Pleasant Valley in Little Rock on October 12th. Congratulations Braden!!

The grace period for receiving free lunches based on last year’s application expires on Tuesday, September 26. Several families with students will have to start paying for lunches unless their families return the lunch application ASAP (https://www.violaschool.k12.ar.us/documents/lunchroom/356979) Families can also qualify for a drawing for Dollar General gift cards, just for filling the lunch application. It was a great day to be a Longhorn on the golf course Tuesday!! The Viola Girls and Boys golf teams finished first place today! The boys finished with a team score of 293. The girls finished with a team score of 344. Braden Williams shot a 90, which was good enough for first place. Ryan Stone finished tied for 2nd with a 98, and won the playoff hole to earn the 2nd place medal. Aiden Perry finished with a 105 to finish 4th overall. Gavin Blevins shot a 110 and finished 6th overall. Emily Martin shot a 111 to take first place overall. Kailey Hallmark finished 2nd with a 113. Haylee Crotts was 3rd with a 120. And Shaydon Waltrip was 5th with a 122. The girls will compete in state next week on September 26. The boys will compete in state on October 2nd. Thank you to the Viola Booster club, coaches, volunteers, and parents who helped monitor the event and provide food and drinks for the athletes. Also, thank you to Josh Jackson and the Turkey Mountain Golf Course for letting host the event in Horseshoe Bend.
